Me almost Kim Kardashian
Can and will artificial intelligence replace artists? Fascination with self-staging, technology, selfies, the possibilities of artificial intelligence, but also criticism, made the Lensa app go viral in 2023. Ana Brankovic used the app and chose titles for the selfie series “Me almost” that reminded her of existing artistic techniques, films or public figures. “Me almost Kim Kardashian” (2023) shows Ana Brankovic as a celebrity lookalike of US entrepreneur Kimberly Noel “Kim” Kardashian and thus addresses pop culture and beauty mania as well as personal rights and the associated criticism of the Lensa app and AI-generated images - because anyone who uploads their own images uploads data and thus trains the app, which uses the mass of data to generate images.

Artificial songs about real people
In April 2024, the artist used artificial intelligence to produce songs about real people from her environment. The songs are based on everyday scenes that are emotionally charged by the description entered using words such as Sad R&B. The work is shown in the form of sound installations or live performances.

Ana Brankovic lives and works as a cultural practitioner, digital creator, creative director and multimedia artist in Basel. In her artistic and collaborative work, which includes music, video, photography, fashion, performance and installations, she deals with contemporary issues as well as society, identity, online phenomena and pop culture. Ana Brankovic comes from a working-class family from Banja Luka in Bosnia and Herzegovina who came to Switzerland in the 1980s. She grew up in Basel and found her first access to art through TV shows such as Art Attack or Bob Ross and at school. Music played a central role, as she understood and wrote down song lyrics as poetry at a young age and was involved in recording music videos, songs, sounds and the associated technology.

Since 2014, Ana has been running the non-profit cultural association “Wie wär's mal mit” with a focus on everyday culture and is the initiator of low-threshold cultural projects, which she prefers to organize in unconventional places such as bars, containers, kebab stands, public squares or restaurants, where different people who inspire her in everyday life are away from high culture. She works in an interdisciplinary and collaborative way with people and friends from the fields of gastronomy, fashion, design, music, architecture, art and culture and has been managing and curating a port container as an experimental space at Uferstrasse 40 since August 2021 with a diverse program including music, fashion, performances, installations and talks. Ana Brankovic completed a Master's degree in Visual Communication and Image Research at the Basel University of Art and Design FHNW in Switzerland from 2014 to 2016.
