In 2024, Artstübli will celebrate its 10th anniversary as a space for art and cultural exchange. This significant anniversary has motivated the team to reflect in depth on their work to date and to develop and implement a transformation concept as a result: Since 2022, the ARTYOU Installation, ARTYOU Culinary and ARTYOU Performance labels have expanded the spectrum to include installation, culinary and performance arts. These new approaches no longer relate exclusively to urban art. To support this transformation, a non-profit association was founded in 2023 to curate and coordinate the accompanying exhibition formats and event programs.
The carpet and wall colors will be taken from Nici Jost’s pink room installation “From West to East to Space” and a supporting program will be created from May till end of June to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the former gallery and the current art and culture space Artstübli. An accompanying bar with exclusively created seating furniture by the Basel artist duo Pascal Martinoli and Filip Wolfensberger will contribute to the quality of stay and lingering in the interior and exterior space.
In the lower part of the room, 6 artists will be exhibiting existing works within 6 weeks under the title “ARTYOU 6/6”, which can be integrated into the existing setting and can also exist in front of it. The exhibition wall is in “Refined Light Pink”, a color from Nici Jost's “Pink Colour System”. “Refined Light Pink” is a color that stimulates consumption, so corresponding works can and may refer to this context.
In the upper part of the room, changing retrospectives of past projects, exhibitions and room installations from the last 10 years are staged as a showcase of works by these artists from the art space own portfolio.
The overarching goal is to establish the art and culture space as a forum for quality and communication that promotes stylistic diversity and interdisciplinary collaboration. The space is to become an interface between the most diverse art circles for Basel and the region, enabling holistic experiences. In doing so, offers will be created that enable visitors and guests to integrate and actively interact at a low threshold.
The collaboration between artists, collectives and the team extends to the curation and presentation of the space. Artstübli - Kunst & Kultur thus becomes a lively venue that is jointly designed by various actors. This participatory process will be continuously expanded and refined over the coming years. The aim is to expand Basel's diverse art and cultural landscape, network it with one another and communicate it to the outside world.
