URBAN ART TOURS

Basel has a wealth of art and urban discoveries to offer in public spaces.

Artstübli has been organizing authentic urban art and graffiti tours, accompanied by artists and connoisseurs of the scene, for a proud 10 years, thus conveying this art movement from the city centre to the railroad line. Understanding the city as an open-air gallery, fitting into an existing context and using artistic means to claim a territory – this has been one of the most important characteristics of urban art since its beginnings.

Seven guides (image) lead visitors through the urban public museum in German, French and English, using a variety of techniques and styles from street art to graffiti art, created by various national and international artists. On the one hand, the focus is on a broad spectrum of outstanding independent styles and working techniques from a wide range of art movements and personalities who, depending on the location, take up the cultural and site-specific context and effectively stage their work.

A new Urban Art Tour for the Dreispitz area in Basel/Münchenstein will be launched towards the end of October, which will also convey the historical context and the transformation of the area, including the interim use of the Gleisbogen. Through artists such as Maja Hürst, Hendrik Beikirch, Jeroen Erosie and SpY (image), the use of the industrial bodies as a canvas brought further high-class works to the area.

The "Urban Art City Tour" can also be combined with an aperitif etc. in our art space at Steinentorberg 28 (Markthalle round buildings) within the current exhibition, if desired.

Bookings for the new Dreispitz and existing City Tour can be requested directly here.

The guides Philipp Gurtner, Vera Elma Vacek, Wiktoria Tundys, Sebastien Pierre Portron, Philipp Brogli, Philipp Benguerel and Guy Heimburger are looking forward to the next tour...
